Seems like the convergence of mobiles and pcs is starting to accelerate.  Though the iPhone came out two years ago, there weren’t really any strong competitors in the space until now , where a slew of great “superphones” are launching. The palm pre is getting rave reviews, a number of flavors of android are coming out, nokia N97, as well a number of new blackberrys.  What does this mean?

Landgrab on Android.  With the coming proliferation of android phones (18 expected this year, and much sexier ones) there is bound to be a burst in the number of users.  There aren’t yet as many applications on Android as there is on iPhone yet.  This means there will be a short window of opportunity for peopel to develop good apps to get first dibs.  Though there needs to be a minimum level of quality, speed to market may be more important.

Landgrab on Pre? The sdk for the pre is not out yet, and there are relatively few apps available for the pre (like around 12 or so).. if the Pre takes off, then tihs woud be a landgrab opportunity as well
